Proposed one acre lease area in prime location at the mouth of Seapowet Marsh Easy access from Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management public parking lot. Northeast corner of the lease is ankle deep. Northeast corner of the proposed lease area. Northeast corner marker of the lease is extremely shallow. Less than a kayak paddle in depth. Example of bottom cages in Cape Cod that are not submerged at low tide. Seapowet area restored and improved for public access using federal and state dollars. Parking lot and beach area restored to enhance public access to fishing, hunting, and other outdoor recreational activities. 40% of the proposed farm is in a public shellfishing area (green outline over orange shading). Shellfishing would be restricted in that lease area. The "rip" fishing hole is heavily used by anglers day and night. The waters are shallow and easy to wade. The lease area is heavily used by kiteboarders, kayakers, and other recreational activities. Proposed lease area conflicts with riparian mooring rights and navigation from shore.
